This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored and shared when you use the Enjoy Badagry mobile application, this website and related Enjoy Badagry services (together, the “Service”). Please read it carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Introduction & scope
Enjoy Badagry is a platform for discovering and enjoying Badagry, Lagos — destinations, hotels, local food, rides, events and tour packages. This policy applies to the Enjoy Badagry Android application, this public website, and the supporting services that power them (including our APIs and support tools).
This website is informational: it does not require an account and does not use cookies or analytics. Interactive services — accounts, rides, food orders, wallet, chats and bookings — are used through the mobile application.
2. Who operates Enjoy Badagry and how to reach us
The Service is operated by the Enjoy Badagry team (“Enjoy Badagry”, “we”, “us” or “our”). For privacy questions or requests, the fastest verified way to reach us is the Help & Support chat inside the Enjoy Badagry app, where every reply is delivered to your account.
Official email and postal contact details for privacy purposes will be published on this page as soon as they are available.
3. Information you provide
Account information
When you create an account in the app you sign in with an email address and password, processed through Firebase Authentication (a Google service). We store your account profile on our systems, including:
- Your email address and internal user ID
- Your full name and phone number, if you add them
- A profile photo, if you upload one
- Your country, if provided
Onboarding and preferences
During onboarding and in settings you may choose interests, a travel style, food preferences and notification and location preferences. These choices are stored with your account to personalise the experience and can be changed in the app.
Registration and device records
When you register, we record technical details about the request — including your IP address, the device and app version used, and similar request metadata — for security, fraud prevention and troubleshooting. We also keep a record of the last device information and app version associated with your account.
Driver accounts
Drivers register separately and provide more extensive information as part of onboarding and verification, including their name, email, phone number, gender, date of birth, state of origin, residential address, emergency contact, vehicle details, driver's licence details and related identity documents. Where required for platform verification, national identification details (such as NIN and BVN) and bank account details for payouts may also be recorded. Drivers also set a password and may receive one-time passcodes (OTPs) by SMS.
4. Information collected automatically
When you use the app, the following information is processed automatically:
- Device and app information — device model, app version, platform and similar technical data, used to operate and debug the service.
- Push notification tokens — identifiers that allow Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications to your device (see section 12).
- Usage records — server-side logs of API requests associated with your account token, used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service.
- IP address — captured at registration and in normal network communication.
The Enjoy Badagry app does not include third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Our public website does not use cookies; it does load typeface files from Google's Fonts hosting service, which receives your browser's IP address in the process of delivering those files.
5. Location information and ride tracking
Enjoy Badagry uses location data only when it is needed to provide a service you request — for example booking a ride, setting a delivery address, or using map features. The app does not request continuous background-location access.
- Your location permission is optional. The app asks for location access when a feature needs it, and you can deny or revoke it at any time in your device settings. You can also turn the app's location preference off in settings.
- Ride coordinates. When you book a ride, the pickup and destination addresses and coordinates you choose are stored with the booking so the ride can be provided, priced, supported and archived.
- Delivery coordinates. When you order food, the delivery address and coordinates you provide are stored with the order for delivery fulfilment.
- Driver positions. While driving, the driver app sends the driver's current position so the platform can operate the ride service. Only the driver's latest reported position is retained — the platform does not keep a continuous location history of drivers.
- Routing. Pickup and destination coordinates are sent to Mapbox to calculate routes, distances and fare estimates.
6. Rides, drivers and transportation
When you book a ride we process:
- Pickup and destination addresses and coordinates
- Date, time, number of passengers and chosen vehicle type
- Fare estimates, fare breakdown, payment method and booking status
- Cancellation reasons, trip status history and driver ratings, where applicable
Information shared with your driver: when a driver accepts your ride, the driver receives your full name and phone number so the trip can be carried out (for example, so the driver can reach you). You likewise see information about your driver, including their name and photo, in the app.
You can rate a driver and, if something goes wrong, file a report describing the reason and any details you provide. Reports are reviewed by our team.
Driver partners' identity, licence, vehicle, location-while-driving and payout information is processed as described in sections 3, 5 and 7 for the purpose of operating the ride service and meeting verification obligations.
7. Wallet, deposits and payment processing
Enjoy Badagry includes a naira (NGN) wallet used to pay for rides and food orders. Payments are processed with Flutterwave, a third-party payment provider.
- You do not enter card or bank card numbers into the Enjoy Badagry app. To add money to your wallet, the platform issues you a virtual bank account, and you transfer funds from your own bank using normal banking channels.
- To confirm your deposit, we verify the incoming transfer with Flutterwave and store verification details — including the transaction reference, status, amount, and the sending account name and number as reported by the payment provider.
- Your wallet balance and transaction history (top-ups, rides, orders, refunds and related references) are stored so you can review them and so we can operate and support the service.
- Driver payouts use bank account details (bank name, account number and account name) recorded for that purpose.
Flutterwave processes payments under its own privacy policy. We receive and store only the verification information described above — we do not receive or store your full banking credentials.
8. Food orders and delivery
When you order food through the app, we process the order itself (items, customisations, quantity, notes, prices and fees), payment through your wallet, and status updates including tracking while the order is out for delivery.
For delivery you provide a recipient name, phone number, delivery address, landmark and any delivery instructions, together with delivery coordinates. This information is stored with the order and used to deliver it — it is shared with the operations team and, where needed to complete the delivery, with the assigned rider.
You can save delivery addresses in your account for reuse.
9. Hotels, accommodation information and hotel interactions
You can browse hotels and places to stay in the app — photos, amenities, ratings, contact information and location. Viewing hotel information does not by itself create a booking.
Where a stay is recorded through the Service (for example, a hotel booking request or reservation managed on the platform), we store the guest details provided — such as guest name, phone number, email address, dates, room preferences and special requests — so the booking can be administered, and the relevant hotel receives the information it needs to host you.
Some hotel details in the app are unlocked by watching a short advertisement (see section 13).
10. Events and tour packages
Events and tour packages are published for discovery. Browsing them does not create an account-level record beyond normal usage logs. Where an event or tour provides an external ticket or enquiry link, you may be directed to a third-party website or contact channel that operates under its own privacy policy — please review that provider's policy before sharing information with them.
11. Chats, support conversations, reviews and uploaded content
Ride chat
Passengers and drivers can exchange messages, and send images, within an active ride conversation. These messages — including text and image links — are stored on our servers so the conversation works reliably and can be reviewed if you contact support about the trip.
Help & Support
When you contact support, we store the conversation: the category and subject you choose, your messages, any images you attach, and our replies. Support staff can also add internal notes that are not visible to you. Conversations are kept so we can follow up and resolve your issue.
Comments, likes, ratings and reports
You can post comments and likes on destinations, food items and hotels, rate drivers, and submit reports. These contributions are stored with your account name and profile information and may be displayed to other users as part of the community features of the Service.
Photos and uploads
Profile photos, driver identity documents and support attachments you upload are stored in cloud file storage (Cloudflare R2). Please avoid uploading documents or images you would not want stored as part of your account or support record.
12. Push notifications and device information
The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications — for example, ride updates, new chat messages, order status changes, wallet credits, comments and replies, and announcements from our team. To do this we store one or more device tokens for your account.
Notification messages necessarily contain some content (for example, a sender's display name, profile photo and a short preview of a chat message, or a ride status). These are delivered to your device by Google's messaging service. You can turn notifications on or off in the app's notification settings at any time.
13. Advertising, advertising identifiers and third-party advertising SDKs
The Enjoy Badagry app displays advertising through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads). Some hotel details are unlocked by watching a short rewarded advertisement.
AdMob may collect information such as your device's IP address (used to estimate general location), the Android advertising ID, app interactions with ads (such as views and taps), and diagnostic information about app and ad performance, as described in Google's AdMob data disclosure documentation. This information is processed by Google under its own privacy policy.
You can reset or limit the advertising identifier, and opt out of personalised advertising, using the advertising controls in your Android settings. Doing so does not remove ads entirely — it affects personalisation.
14. How we use your information
We use the information described in this policy to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you securely
- Provide the services you request — rides, food orders, wallet, chats, browsing and bookings
- Calculate fares and routes, process and verify payments, and maintain transaction records
- Deliver push notifications and, for drivers, one-time passcodes by SMS
- Personalise your experience using the preferences you choose
- Provide customer support and resolve issues you report
- Operate, maintain, secure and troubleshoot the Service, including preventing abuse and fraud
- Meet legal, financial record-keeping and regulatory obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party marketing beyond the advertisements served inside the app by our advertising provider.
16. Hosting, storage and service providers
The following providers process information for us. Each operates under its own terms and privacy policy.
| Provider | Purpose | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Authentication (Google) | Account sign-up, sign-in and token verification | Email address, password (held by Firebase), phone number, user ID |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) | Delivering push notifications | Device tokens; notification content such as names, statuses and message previews |
| Flutterwave | Payment processing, virtual accounts and deposit verification | Amounts, transaction references, virtual account details; sending account name and number returned for verification |
| Cloudflare R2 | Storing uploaded images and documents | Profile photos, driver documents, support attachments |
| Mapbox | Maps, geocoding and route/fare calculations | Search text, pickup and destination coordinates |
| Twilio | SMS one-time passcodes for driver sign-in | Driver phone number and OTP message |
| Google AdMob | Advertising, including rewarded ads | IP address, advertising ID, ad interactions, diagnostics (see section 13) |
Our databases and services are hosted on infrastructure providers chosen to operate the Service securely. Where information is processed in Nigeria or in other countries where these providers operate, it may be transferred and stored outside Nigeria — for example, in the United States or the European Union — subject to those providers' safeguards.
17. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide the Service and meet the purposes described in this policy.
- Account information is kept while your account exists.
- Ride, order and transaction records may be kept after you stop using those features, because they form part of financial and operational records for completed services.
- Chat and support conversations are kept so that ongoing issues can be followed up and past issues can be reviewed.
- Driver verification records are kept while a driver remains registered on the platform.
Some records may be retained for longer where required by law or where needed for dispute resolution, fraud prevention, accounting or legal claims. We do not currently apply a fixed automatic deletion schedule to personal data; where you request deletion (section 18), we will remove or anonymise data that we can reasonably delete, and retain only what we must.
18. Account deletion and user privacy requests
You can request deletion of your Enjoy Badagry account and associated personal data at any time by sending a request through the Help & Support chat in the app. Please use the account you want deleted so we can verify the request.
When we process a verified request, we will delete or irreversibly anonymise your account and the personal data linked to it, except records we are required or permitted to keep — for example, completed ride, order and financial transaction records needed for accounting, fraud prevention, dispute handling or legal compliance. Some content you posted publicly (for example, comments) may remain where it is not linked to an identifiable account after deletion.
You may also request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct inaccurate profile information, through the same support channel. Profile details such as your name, phone number, photo and preferences can directly be edited by you in the app.
19. Security measures
We take technical and organisational measures appropriate to the Service, including:
- Encrypted transmission (HTTPS/TLS) between the app and our servers
- Token-based authentication for every account request
- Passwords stored only as salted hashes for driver accounts; passenger accounts are authenticated by Google's Firebase Authentication
- Role-based access controls and session timeouts for administrative systems, with different permission levels for different staff roles
- An append-only audit log of administrative actions
- Rate limiting on authentication endpoints and input validation across the platform
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We work to protect your information, but we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your password confidential and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
20. Your choices, permissions and privacy controls
- Location — grant or revoke location permission in your device settings at any time; you can also turn the app's location preference off in settings.
- Notifications — turn push notifications on or off in the app's notification settings, or through your device settings.
- Profile — update your name, phone number, photo and country in your profile.
- Advertising ID — reset or limit it in your Android advertising settings (section 13).
- Sign out — you can sign out of the app at any time from your profile.
- Deletion — request account or data deletion as described in section 18.
21. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us through the in-app support chat and we will take steps to delete it.
22. Applicable legal obligations and lawful disclosures
We may disclose information where we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, a court order or a lawful request from public authorities, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Enjoy Badagry, our users, drivers or the public. Where Nigerian data protection law (including the Nigeria Data Protection Act) or other applicable law gives you rights over your personal data, this policy is intended to support those rights — including rights of access, correction and deletion described in section 18.
23. Third-party websites and external services
The Service may link to external websites — for example hotel websites, event ticket pages, Google Maps directions, or app store pages. These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review their policies before providing them with any information.
24. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or announced through in-app notifications where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
25. Contact information and privacy requests
For questions about this policy, to request account deletion, or to make any other privacy request, use the Help & Support chat inside the Enjoy Badagry app. Every reply is delivered directly to your account inbox.
